The Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is a massive oval amphitheater in the center of the city of Rome, Italy. Built of travertine limestone, tuff, and brick-faced concrete, it was the largest amphitheater ever built at the time and held up to 65,000 spectators. It remains one of the New 7 Wonders of the World and a symbol of the Roman Empire.
